Accelerated Reader

The students at HES participate in the Accelerated Reader Program.  In this program, students read books then take a short comprehension quiz about the book on the computer.  Points are earned by achieving a passing score on each quiz.  Students will have individual point goals based on their STAR tests.  Students who reach their goal with an 85% or higher average on quizzes will qualify for the Reading Celebration parties that will take place in December and again in May.  Parents who wish to view their child's progress may do so by following the directions below.

  • Setup Email Alerts to receive emails showing your student’s quiz or test results
  • Monitor your child’s progress toward reading goals
  • Search for books with available AR tests (this does not mean we have the book in the library, just that there is an AR test available for the book.
  • Students may take AR tests on books they read from the public library or books you have purchased as long as the book is not more than 1 level below their reading level).
  • See the books your child has read.
