I want to wish everyone a very warm welcome to Hahira Elementary School for the 2015-2016 school year! I am very excited to serve Hahira Elementary School as principal. I served as principal of HES in 2001, 2002, and 2003. I then worked at the Lowndes County Board of Education Office for eight years before returning to HES in 2012!
All of my teaching career was at Hahira Elementary and I taught grades K, 2, 3, and 4 and I also taught grades 1-5 in Title I. I have a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and Master's degrees in Early Childhood Education and Educational Leadership. I received an Education specialist's degree in Education Leadership from Valdosta State University.
I am married to Emory Mathis and we live in Hahira. We have two older children, Allen and Ivey, and two younger daughters, Jewel, 8 years old, and Jada, 9 years old. Jewel and Jada attend Hahira Elementary School.
